Liverpool have signed midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal for £20m.

(African Stand) — Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich in a deal that could rise to £25 million.

The 29-year-old, who won the Treble with the Bundesliga giants in his final appearance for the club, becomes Jurgen Klopp‘s second summer signing.

The Premier League champions agreed on a deal with Bayern Munich worth £20m upfront, with a further £5m to be paid in potential add-ons.

The midfielder has signed a four-year deal and will wear the no.6 shirt, which was left vacant after Dejan Lovren‘s departure.

“I think it’s an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here,” Thiago told the club’s official website.

The fee for the Spain international, 29, could eventually rise to £25m with bonuses.

“When the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more.

“I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible.

“It also [has] this kind of family [feeling] that I need because we [like to] have a very close relationship with the club and I think I will feel this, I will have this feeling, with this club as well.”

When asked about his feelings of adding to Thiago to his squad, Klopp replied: “Absolutely great. I’m really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it.

“It’s very exceptional because, in our situation, a lot of people around us talk constantly – ‘What are you doing? – [then] bam, bam, bam.”

The Spain international is the second new arrival at Anfield this summer, following the acquisition of Greek full-back Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos in August.
