Wolves 0-1 Sevilla: Sevilla dump Wolves out of Europa League as Raul Jimenez missed a penalty as Spaniards set up Manchester United semi-final.
(African Stand) — Lucas Ocampos’ late header saw Sevilla edge out Wolves in the last eight of the Europa League and set up a semi-final meeting with Manchester United.
Sevilla dominated possession for most of the night in a match featuring very few clear chances.
But Wolves missed the best chance of the first half after Diego Carlos brought down Adama Traore after 12 minutes and Raul Jimenez saw a weak penalty saved by Bono.
Julen Lopetegui’s side had the better of it after that as Wolves seemed content to wait for their chance on the break, but was unable to find Traore in dangerous areas.
The Spanish side, five-time winners of this competition, won a series of corners towards the end of the match and eventually found the breakthrough two minutes from time.
One of those was played short to Ever Banega and the Argentine curled in for compatriot Ocampos to glance a fine header past Rui Patricio.
Sevilla will now meet Manchester United in the last four, with Shakhtar Donetsk in action against Inter Milan in the other semi-final after they thrashed FC Basel 4-1 on Tuesday.
