(The African Stand) — Wolves recorded their fourth consecutive win over Leeds United in all competitions, following a 1-0 win on Monday night at the Elland Road.

Raul Jimenez scored the lone goal in the 70th minute to ensure Nuno Espirito’s men bounced back from two successive defeats.

The match was a quiet affair for long spells, even though the hosts were the better side for the 90 minutes.

They first got an opportunity in the seventh minute, but Patrick Bamford‘s goal was correctly ruled out for offside.

Rodrigo then got another great chance inside the six-yard box just before half-time, but Rui Patricio pulled off an exquisite save to deny him the striker.

Wolves then thought they had finally got the opener in the 53rd minute, but Romain Saiss’s goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.

Espirito’s men kept knocking on Leeds’ door, and they came close again on the 58th minute as Daniel Podence received a low pass just outside the box and unleashed a fine strike to the bottom left corner only for Illan Meslier to pull off a reflexive save.

The breakthrough finally came with 20 minutes to go as Jimenez brilliantly slalomed his way forward past a few defenders and unleashed a shot from the edge of the box, which was deflected and went into the back of the net.

The win saw Wolves move to sixth in the English Premier League table, while Leeds are 10th.

In an earlier match, West Bromwich settled for a 0-0 draw against Burnley at the Hawthorns.
