(African Stand) — Four top officials in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have expressed interest to replace former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

The four are; DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also the leader of opposition in Parliament, DPP Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka, and former Minister of Agriculture Dr. George Chaponda.

DPP Vice President for Central Region Uladi Mussa has also joined the race.

Mussa confirmed the interest in an interview with the press, saying some party supporters approached him to join the race.

DPP is currently rocked up in leadership squabbles as others are calling for Mutharika’s replacement saying the former leader is too old.

The call led to an emergency meeting recently.
